Most Porch Lights Disappear in Daylight.

The standard exterior wall light is a black box or a cylinder that exists only after dark. During the day it sits on the wall adding nothing. This fitting takes the opposite position. The twisted aluminium form catches light, casts its own shadow and creates visual interest against the wall at every hour. At 450 mm tall it registers from the pavement and holds attention at close range when you are standing at the door.

The body is die-cast aluminium in a textured black finish, corrosion-resistant and rated IP44 for sheltered outdoor positions and bathroom use. A white silicone diffuser runs the length of the twist, softening the 12 W warm white LED module into an even, glare-free wash rather than a harsh point source. The LED is integrated and included, drawing just 12 watts for a light output that covers a porch, entrance or garden wall without running costs worth noticing. Class 2 double insulation means no earth wire is required, simplifying the connection.

What the Twisted Form Actually Does.

• It gives the wall a focal point in daylight. A flat cylinder or rectangular sconce disappears against a wall. The twist creates changing shadow lines as the sun moves, making the fitting a sculptural object throughout the day rather than a light source that only matters after dark.
• Warm white LED, 12 W, included. The integrated SMD 2835 LED tape module produces an even, warm white glow through the full-length diffuser. No bulb to buy, no bulb to replace. The warm tone flatters brick, stone, render and timber equally.
• IP44 rated for wet positions. Protected against water splashing from any direction. Suitable for porches, covered entrances, garden walls under eaves, and bathroom zones where IP44 is the minimum requirement.
• Aluminium body, corrosion-resistant. Die-cast aluminium does not rust, pit or discolour in exposed conditions. The textured black powder coat is baked on, not painted, and holds its finish across seasons.
• 450 mm tall, 135 mm wide. Tall enough to make a statement beside a door without overwhelming the wall. Narrow enough to sit on a pillar, a gate post or a tight section of wall between windows.
• Class 2 double insulated. No earth connection needed. The fitting is fully insulated within its own housing, which keeps the wiring straightforward.

IP44 on a Sheltered Wall.

IP44 means protection against solid objects larger than 1 mm and water splashing from any direction. That covers any wall position with overhead shelter: a porch ceiling, an eave, a recessed doorway, a covered side passage. It does not cover fully exposed walls where driving rain hits directly with no protection above. For those positions, IP65 is correct. Most residential front doors, side doors and covered garden walls fall within the IP44 range, and the aluminium body resists corrosion even in coastal areas where salt air accelerates deterioration of painted steel.

Against Brick, Render and Stone.

The textured black finish works against London stock brick, white-painted render, grey concrete, natural stone and dark-stained timber without competing with the wall. Pairs flanking a front door at 1.5 to 1.8 metres from the ground create symmetry and even illumination for visitors. A single fitting on a garden wall or beside a side door provides enough warm light to navigate a path without flooding the area. In a bathroom, mounted vertically beside a mirror, the twisted silhouette adds a design element most IP-rated fittings deliberately avoid.

• The LED module is integrated. There is no replaceable bulb. The 12 W warm white LED tape is built into the fitting and included. Rated for long service life at low wattage.
• Class 2, IP44, mains voltage. Runs on 220-240 V. Double insulated with no earth required. Suitable for sheltered outdoor positions and bathroom zones rated for IP44 fittings.
• Check your wall position before ordering. IP44 is correct for any position with overhead cover. For fully exposed walls with no shelter above, choose an IP65-rated alternative instead.
