Glass Performs. Brass Grounds It.
Most pendants provide light and let the room do the rest. This one is different. The cascading textured glass rods catch and refract the light from the bulb at every tier, so the fitting itself becomes the visual centrepiece rather than the space around it. It is not a background fixture. It is the thing the room is organised around, whether that is a dining table, an entryway with height, or a sitting room that needs a focal point above it without the scale of a chandelier.
The Spec Behind the Statement
- Material: Steel, glass and brass.
- Bulb: 10W LED E27, included.
- Dimmable: Yes, trailing-edge dimmer required.
- Total drop: 1655mm, adjustable by removing chain links.
- Class: Class 1, earth wire required.
- IP Rating: IP20, dry rooms only.
The Rooms That Deserve This
A dining room that currently has nothing above the table worth looking at. An entryway with ceiling height that has never been used properly. A living room where the overhead light has always been a practical afterthought rather than a considered choice. The brass glass rod pendant belongs in spaces where the lighting is expected to do more than illuminate. It brings warmth from the brass, texture from the glass, and a quality of light that changes character as the dimmer moves from day to evening. For further ideas on building a room scheme around a strong central fitting, the cinema room design guide is a useful starting point for thinking about how light and atmosphere work together.
Unlit It Turns Heads. Lit, Rooms.
In daylight, the cascade of textured glass rods draws attention before the switch is touched. Each one catches the ambient light of the room and scatters it at a slightly different angle. Then the bulb comes on and the rods come alive, glowing from within, the texture multiplying the light into something closer to a jewelled column than a pendant shade.
A single pendant that works at every scale: over a dining table, in a double-height entryway, or suspended alone above a reading corner. The warm brass finish ties it to a long tradition of considered lighting without making it feel period. For ideas on layering pendant lighting into a room scheme, the industrial living room design guide covers the principles well.
What You Notice. In Order.
- First: the rods themselves. A tiered cascade of textured glass suspended from a brass frame. Each rod catches light individually. Together they form a column that is as interesting unlit as it is when the bulb is on.
- Second: the brass. The frame and chain sit warmer than the cool clarity of the glass. The contrast between the two materials is what gives this fitting its character.
- Third: the light quality. Textured glass does not transmit light cleanly. It scatters it, sends it in directions a plain shade never would. The result is an ambient warmth that fills the room rather than spotlighting a single surface.
- Fourth: how it dims. Fully dimmable. At low the rods glow quietly. At full the glass column becomes the brightest thing in the room. A trailing-edge dimmer is required, sold separately.
- Fifth: the drop. Total length from ceiling to base is 1655mm. It suits rooms with height, and chain links can be removed before installation to shorten it to the right position.
- Sixth: the bulb. A 10W LED E27 is included, matched to the fitting. If you replace it, use warm white at similar wattage to maintain the light quality through the glass.
Texture in Glass Is Not Decoration
Plain glass transmits light in the direction the bulb points. Textured glass does something different. Each ridge or groove bends the passing light at a slightly different angle, so the single point source of a bulb becomes dozens of smaller sources, each one offset from the last. In a rod pendant, that effect is compounded by the linear form: light travels the length of the rod before it exits, picking up the texture at every point. The rod does not just diffuse light. It animates it. The result changes as you move around the fitting, as the dimmer shifts, and as the natural light in the room moves through the day. Not the soft glow of frosted glass, not the sharp output of bare glass. Something between the two: directed but warm, clear but layered.
Two Rooms. One Fitting. Both Right.
A dining room with a round table, four chairs in aged leather, a dark oak sideboard against the far wall. The pendant hangs above the table at a height where the base of the rods sits just above eye level when seated. The glass column catches candlelight from below and adds its own. The room is warm, contained, properly lit. Then an entryway with height: white walls, flagstone floor, a staircase rising to one side. The same fitting drops from the ceiling on its full chain, the glass rods becoming a vertical feature where the space needed something to draw the eye upward. For a table lamp that continues the brass and glass language at lower level, the classic glass touch table lamp is a natural companion.

- The total drop is 1655mm. Designed for rooms with ceiling height to accommodate it. Chain links can be removed before installation to bring the base of the shade to the right height. Measure the intended hanging position before purchasing.
- A 10W LED E27 bulb is included. The fitting ships with one bulb matched to its specification. If you replace it, use a warm white E27 LED at similar wattage to maintain the quality of light through the glass rods.
- Dimming needs a trailing-edge switch. Dimmable, but only with a compatible trailing-edge dimmer switch. A standard on/off gives full brightness only. Worth confirming before installation if dimming matters to you.

Brass Glass Rod Pendant: Straight Answers
The full drop is 1655mm from ceiling to base of shade. For a standard 2.4m ceiling, that brings the shade much lower than most dining tables sit. Remove chain links before installation to set the right hanging height. Measure ceiling to surface distance before ordering.
A 10W LED E27 is included, matched to the fitting. It gives the warm output that works best through the textured glass rods. If you replace it later, any warm white E27 LED at similar wattage works.
Reasonable care during installation is sensible. Once hung, the fitting is stable and the rods are not regularly touched or disturbed. The pendant is designed to be installed once and left. The rods will not rattle under normal conditions.
A warm brass finish applied to the steel frame and chain. This gives the warmth and look of brass while keeping the weight manageable. Consistent across both frame and chain and requires no polishing to maintain its appearance.
It dims properly with the right switch. A trailing-edge dimmer replaces your existing wall switch and gives a genuine range from full brightness down to a quiet ambient glow. At low, the glass rods become atmospheric rather than functional. Worth fitting the correct switch.
700 to 900mm above the table surface is standard. That illuminates the table well without sitting in the sightline of people seated opposite. Erring toward the higher end also lets more of the glass rod column remain visible above the table.
Wall lighting or a table lamp that continues the warm brass tone keeps the scheme coherent. The industrial brass desk lamp shares the same warm finish and works in the same room without repeating the same object.
Not usually. Class 1 means the fitting needs an earth wire at the ceiling rose, which is standard in most UK homes. If your existing pendant had three wires at the rose, you are set. In older properties, worth a quick check first.
The canopy is designed for a standard flat ceiling. A sloped-ceiling adapter would be needed for an angled ceiling and is not included. If your ceiling is sloped, confirm the rose position before ordering to ensure the pendant will hang vertically.
Pendant Lighting Done Right
A pendant that earns its position above a dining table or in an entryway needs to do two things well: illuminate the space and hold its own as an object. Getting the hanging height, the room context and the supporting scheme right makes the difference between a fitting that looks placed and one that looks considered.
