Three Materials That Have Always Belonged in the Same Room. One Pendant That Proves It.
Ash wood, clear glass and aged brass share a warmth that makes them natural companions in the same fitting. The ash wood top and ceiling cover are both turned from solid material on a lathe, giving the installation a continuity from ceiling plate to glass shade that makes it feel designed as one object. The flared clear glass shade opens from a narrow neck to a wider base, directing the GLS source warmly downward with the bulb visible as an amber point inside. The black braided fabric flex runs visibly between the two wooden elements along the drop, which adjusts 450 to 1530mm. Dimmable. Class 2 double insulated.
What Each Material Brings and What the Whole Assembly Delivers
- Flared clear glass shade, 290mm diameter: Opens from a narrow neck to a wider base, directing the GLS source downward. Bulb visible inside.
- Solid ash wood top and ceiling cover: Both turned from solid ash on a lathe. Real grain, real weight, warm tone.
- Black braided fabric flex: Visible by design along the drop. Connects the two wooden elements with a deliberate linear detail.
- Brushed aged brass details: Ties wood, glass and steel at the connection points with warmth rather than competing for attention.
- Adjustable drop 450–1530mm, dimmable: Chain sets the drop for the ceiling height. Standard dimmer compatible. E27 GLS. Bulb not included.
- Class 2, IP20, 220-240V, 2.1kg: Double insulated. No earth required. Standard interior rooms only.
Where This Pendant Finds Its Best Room and Its Best Reason to Be There
A kitchen with natural oak shelving, limestone floors and raw plaster walls where the ash wood and flared glass give the ceiling a focal point continuous with everything below. A dining room where the pendant hangs low over a farmhouse table, the warm GLS glow pulling the ceiling into the conversation at table level. A bedroom or lounge where the drop is set high enough to light softly. Natural wood, clear glass and aged brass belong in interiors built around warmth and organic texture. Our guide to brightening a difficult space covers how light and material choices work together.
A Pendant Does Something a Flush Fitting Can Never Quite Manage.
A pendant light descends into a room rather than covering it, making the relationship between light source and surface below intentional. Hang this over a kitchen island and the flared clear glass shade, the turned ash wood top and the aged brass hardware become part of the room's composition from every angle. That quality is something a flush fitting cannot achieve.
The glass shade is flared, opening from a narrow neck to a wider base. The ash wood top is turned from solid wood rather than printed or applied, and the ceiling cover is turned from the same material, giving the installation a continuity that makes it feel resolved rather than assembled. The black braided fabric flex is visible by design. Brushed aged brass ties the three materials at the connection points.
The drop adjusts between 450 and 1530mm, which is a significant range. At 450mm the pendant hangs relatively high, softening a room without descending dramatically into it. At 1530mm it drops over a metre below the ceiling, which is the kind of drop that hangs low over a farmhouse dining table and puts the warm glow of the GLS source at exactly the level where it matters. The dimmer gives that warm glow two registers: bright enough for an evening dinner with people around the table, softer for the quieter hours when the room needs atmosphere rather than illumination. For a table lamp in the same natural material register alongside it, the woven natural seagrass table lamp sits naturally in the same scheme. For building a warm, artisan interior around a pendant of this quality, our industrial living room design tips covers the approach.
Six Reasons This Pendant Earns the Space Above the Table
- The flared glass creates a shape worth looking at from every angle. A form that narrows then opens in a curve, directing the GLS source downward.
- The ash wood is turned, not printed or applied. Both fitting top and ceiling cover are shaped from solid ash on a lathe. The grain is real. The warmth is the warmth only actual wood produces.
- The black braided flex is part of the visual argument, not an afterthought. Visible between ceiling cover and shade top, the braided flex connects the two wooden elements along the drop, making the assembly feel deliberately designed.
- The adjustable drop gives one fitting the range to serve completely different rooms. From 450mm for a high presence to 1530mm for a low hang over a dining table, the chain adjustment configures the pendant to the ceiling height and the brief it is answering.
- The aged brass connects three materials without dominating any of them. Brushed aged brass at the connection points adds warmth without pulling focus from the wood or the glass.
- The GLS bulb format makes the choice of bulb part of the design. A warm Edison-style GLS visible through the clear flared glass gives the fitting its most atmospheric quality.
The Drop Height Is Not a Practical Setting. It Is a Design Decision.
At 450mm the pendant lights the room from a height. At 1530mm it descends a full metre and the GLS source comes to face height beside a table. The difference between those two settings is the difference between a pendant that lights a room and one that belongs to a zone of it.
The Rooms Where Ash Wood, Clear Glass and Aged Brass Feel Inevitable
A kitchen with open shelving in natural oak, limestone floors and raw plaster walls where the ash wood is the organic continuation of every material choice already made. A dining room with a farmhouse table and bentwood chairs. A lounge where a single pendant provides both the task light and the focal point. Class 2, no earth required. IP20 means standard interior rooms only.
Before You Order
- Bulb not included. Takes E27 GLS screw-fit. A warm Edison-style GLS at 2700K gives the most atmospheric result through the clear flared glass shade.
- Set the drop before the fitting goes up. Adjustable 450 to 1530mm via chain. Measure the intended hanging height from ceiling to the position where the bottom of the shade should sit and configure the chain accordingly.
- Class 2, IP20: standard interior rooms only. No earth connection required. Not suitable for bathrooms or rooms with moisture exposure.

Ash Wood and Glass Pendant Ceiling Light: Your Questions Answered
Shaped on a lathe from solid ash rather than pressed or laminated. Both pendant top and ceiling cover are produced this way. Turned wood has a surface quality, grain continuity and weight that manufactured substitutes cannot replicate, and having both elements from the same process gives the assembly its coherence.
Set by removing or adding chain links before installation. Range: 450 to 1530mm. General guide: 60–75cm above a dining table; 70–80cm above a kitchen counter. In open space, ensure at least 1.8 metres clearance from floor to base of shade.
E27 GLS format. The glass is clear so the bulb is visible inside the shade. A warm Edison-style filament GLS at 2700K gives the most atmospheric quality, the filament coil visible as a warm point of light. A cool white LED illuminates efficiently but lacks the warmth this material combination is designed to carry. Bulb not included.
Kitchen and dining rooms are the natural home. Lounge and bedroom spaces also work well when the palette is built around natural materials and warm wall colours. Jute, linen, rattan, aged terracotta and Farrow and Ball neutrals all sit naturally alongside the ash wood and clear glass. The industrial style desk lamp in brass carries the same warm metal note at a lower level in the same scheme.
Full brightness for the meal; a lower setting for the hours when the room should feel atmospheric. In a bedroom, working light when needed and warmth for the evening. Check your dimmer is LED-compatible as older dimmers can cause LEDs to flicker.
Double insulated. Connects to live and neutral only, making it compatible with older UK properties that may have two-core ceiling wiring without a dedicated earth.
No. IP20 means it is suitable for standard interior rooms only. Bathrooms, en-suites and rooms with moisture exposure require a higher IP rating.
At 290mm wide with the drop set 600–750mm above the table, the flared glass shade and warm GLS glow create a defined pool of warm light that makes the table feel deliberate. For a long rectangular table, two pendants in a row often work better than one wider fitting.
Glass shade 290mm wide and 290mm deep. Drop adjustable 450 to 1530mm. Total weight 2.1kg. Ash wood, glass and steel construction. Dimmable E27 GLS, 220-240V, Class 2, IP20.

Building Rooms Around Natural Materials and Considered Lighting
Ash wood, clear glass and aged brass are materials that carry warmth naturally, but the rooms that make best use of this pendant are the ones where those same qualities are already present in the wider palette. These guides cover how to build and layer interiors where natural materials and atmospheric lighting work as a single, coherent design decision.
